Week Recap

Hello! I apologize for being MIA for the last week or so- I took a little trip home and spent time with family. I left last Saturday and then stayed for the week and my husband joined me on Thursday. It was so wonderful to spend time with my family and friends!

16 Questions About Me

Questions About Me

I originally saw this from Emily @ a little bit of emily and thought it looked like a lot of fun! I always love reading these when others do it & I hope it gives a little more insight into who I am 🙂

1. Are you named after anyone?

Not as far as my first name goes. My middle name, Jean, is also my mom’s middle name, my maternal grandmother’s middle name, and my maternal great-grandmother’s first name. It’s such a special connection that I hope to pass on to a daughter of my own one day.

2.  When was the last time you cried?

Sometime last week I think – I won’t go into the details of why, but prayers would be appreciated 🙂

3.  Do you have kids?

We do not have any kids yet. Someday!

4.  Will you ever bungee-jump?

Please excuse the language but HELL NO! I am absolutely terrified of heights and can barely look out the window of a tall building, so I’d say unless someone is paying me lots of money, you can count me out of your next bungee-jumping trip.

5.  What’s your favorite cereal?

Oh my gosh, of all time? This is so hard. I love cereal but never eat it anymore because I try to be a little healthier in the mornings. I’d have to go with a 4 way tie between Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats, and Captain Crunch. Yum!

6.  What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Hmm, good question! Probably their hair. Not to be superficial, but it’s usually just what my eyes are drawn too and it tells me a lot about a person.

7.  What is your eye color?

Blue – and I love that 🙂

8.  Scary movie or happy endings?

Happy endings for sure! I get really into movies and scary movies are not really my thing. I’m usually not able to sleep well after watching scary movies.

9.  Favorite scents?

Like I mentioned yesterday, I love the Bath & Body Works Leaves Candle I also love the Mahogany Teakwood Candle at Bath & Body – good all times of the year! Another favorite is the Sparkling Icicles Candle at Bath & Body. Besides candles, I love the smell of my husband’s body wash (is that cheesy?), fresh cut grass, and rain.

10.  Summer or winter?

Summer for sure!

11.  What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

I lived in Spain for 6 weeks during college as part of a study abroad program. It was such a wonderful experience even though I was super homesick. But I’d love to take my husband back there to visit.

12.  Do you have any special talents?

Hmm, I’m not sure I do! I wish!

13.  Where were you born?

Minnesota girl, born & raised!

14.  What are your hobbies?

Cooking, exercising, trying different restaurants and bars (is that a hobby?), and just spending as much time as possible with my hubby & dogs.

15.  Do you have any pets?

Yes, we have two chocolate labs. Louie is about a year and half old and Lola is 3 months old. They are quite a handful, but I couldn’t imagine this crazy life without them!

16.  Favorite movie?

My favorite movie of all time is D2: The Mighty Ducks – is my Minnesota showing with that answer? However, I also love love love Stepbrothers. You have to watch it on DVD though, not on tv. It’s so not as good when it’s on tv and everything is bleeped out.

Fall Bucket List

Bucket LIst Header

I know I said yesterday that I am clinging to the last days of summer, but these last two posts may be sending a different message. I promise, I’m not trying to rush into fall or shove fall down your throat but I really am excited. However, I’d be totally okay if this summer weather would stick around for a couple more weeks.

Fall Nail Polish Colors

As much as I am clinging to those last few days of summer, I am pretty stinking excited for fall. We have kind of missed out on real Midwestern fall these past two years, since we lived in such warm climates. I am so excited for the cooler temperatures, leaves changing, and all the fun activities that come with the changing of seasons.

Easy Healthy Dinner

Turkey Skillet

Now that I’ve shared how I plan our meals, I thought I’d share an easy healthy dinner that we have quite often. It’s super simple to make, doesn’t have a ton of ingredients, and is very easily customized. Plus, it’s husband approved! I call it turkey skillet and here’s how you make it.

Meal Planning

Meal Planning Collage

Not to toot my own horn, but I am a champion list maker. When we were planning our wedding, I had so many lists that my husband said I needed a list to keep track of all my lists. I love to plan everything I possibly can. Maybe that’s the military wife in me; there’s so many things in my life I can’t plan (like where I live or when I move-you know, little things) so when I can make a plan, I’m all over that! Honestly, one of my favorite things to do is meal plan. I love sitting down and going through the weekly ads for the grocery stores and planning our dinners for the next week. I just wanted to share my methods because I think it works pretty well.

Weekend Recap

I just wanted to do a quick recap of a whirlwind, wonderful weekend that we had back home. We ended up leaving around 3pm on Friday afternoon after quickly running the car into the shop because it was leaking oil. Thankfully it was a quick fix, and I picked the husband up from work and we were off. After an 8 hour drive & losing an hour due to changing time zones, we got to my parents house about 12:30am and went right to bed.
